Great Ideas Change the World
Hello Everybody!
How was your summer? September is already here and a few days are left before school classes begin. To tell the truth, this year I’m still in a holiday mood, far from home, on parental leave in Boston (USA) spending a wonderful life experience with my husband and son!
Boston is a fantastic city, with all its parks, shores, museums, libraries, cultural events and shops! But, most of all, Boston is a truly inspirational place! Cambridge, one of its main districts, is home to two of the world’s most famous universities: Harvard and the MIT, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, leading academies for their often life-changing research.
I’ve spent much time wandering across these places and I’ve found them so exciting! One day, at Harvard, I saw lots of young people from all over the world greeting their families with a kiss and a hug carrying their luggage to the dormitories. They were the new Harvard ‘freshmen’ (boys and girls) moving to the college! ... We can just imagine their feelings and hopes: getting the most out of their college experience, learning as much as they can, building positive relationship, and so beginning to envision THEIR OWN future. (Or, at least this is how I see them!)
After almost two months in Cambridge, I’m sure I’ll come back to my job even more motivated to help you do the same, everyday, in your school... Ok, Ok, I know living in a small town in the South of Italy may not be the same as living in the heart of the States, but, you know, often it’s our mind attitude that can make the difference. ‘Great ideas change the world’ is the motto of MIT, so I’ll leave you with two big questions to think about: What’s the difference you would like to see in the world? What can you do to make it real?
Last but not the least, this post is also to say goodbye to all the students I won’t meet again this year: it’s been a pleasure working with you and I wish you all the best for your new school year, and especially for your life.
If you please, this blog can be the space to keep in touch whenever you want. Your comments are welcome!
Bye!
